The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) on January 13, 2025, issued the Safety Guide on Deterministic Safety Analysis for Water Cooled Reactor Based Nuclear Power Plants.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This Safety Guide supersedes the Safety Guide on Deterministic Safety Analysis for Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors.
• It aims to standardize the methodology for conducting deterministic safety analyses (DSA) for Water-Cooled Reactor-Based nuclear power plants (NPPs).
• It provides guidance on various approaches for carrying out DSA, safety analysis rules, acceptance criteria for various plant states, and verification and validation of computer codes used for DSA.
• It applies to DSA for licensing, safety reviews, modifications, and safety-related procedures for water-cooled reactor-based NPPs.
• It mainly focuses on neutronic, thermal hydraulics, fuel, source term estimation, and dose evaluation.
